Windows 95 and 98 Dial-Up Networking Setup
Note: This Page May Take As Many As Five Minutes To Load!

First double click on the icon that says "My Computer" located
on your desktop. Once the "My Computer" window opens double click on the icon
that says "Dial Up Networking." |

Once the "Dial Up Networking" window opens, double click on the
icon that says "Make New Connection." Note: If Dial up Networking has never
been used Before then a connection wizard will appear. If the wizard does appear, click
next to Continue on with the process. |

Where it says, "Type a name for the computer that you are
dialing:" type Your-Net. After you type in Your-Net, click on next. Note: Where it says,
"Select a Device:" a device Should already be selected. Therefore, you Do not
have to do anything for this selection. |

After you click next, you are prompted to put in your Area Code and the
Telephone Number to dial. For the Area Code use 513, the Telephone Number is 934-2040.
After you put in the needed information, click on the next button.

Once you reach this screen, click the finish button to complete the
process of making a new Dial up Networking connection.

Now, you should be back to the Dial up Networking window. In this window
you should see an icon that says Your-Net. Using the far right button on your mouse click on
the Your-Net icon one time. In the list that it gives you go down to the bottom and select
properties by clicking on it one time with the left mouse button.

In the Your-Net properties screen, under the General tab, you will want to
uncheck the box that says, "Use area code and Dialing Properties". After
accomplishing this task you will want to click on the Server Types tab at the top of the
Your-Net properties window. Note: Depending on what version of Windows you Are using (95 or
98) you may have a different Option to disable the use of the Area Code. This option
may say "Use country code and Area code." |

Once you are on the Server Types tab, you will want to uncheck the
"Log on to network" box under Advanced Options. Also you will want to uncheck
the "NetBEUI" and "IPX/SPX Compatible" boxes under Allowed Network
Protocols. As soon as you finish this then click on the OK button at the bottom.

Once you click OK, you will be placed back in the Dial up Networking
window. Now you will want to right mouse click on the Your-Net icon once again, but this time
you will want to select "Create Shortcut" from the menu that you are given.

After you click on "Create Shortcut," you will be given this
error message. Just click on yes so that the shortcut will be placed on your desktop.

Next, close each of the windows that you have opened, to get back to your
desktop or main screen. You will see an icon that says "Shortcut to Your-Net," you
will want to double click on this icon.

After you double click on the "Shortcut to Your-Net" icon, this is
the screen that it will bring up. Here you will type in your Userid and Password that you
signed up for. Once you type in your Userid and Password click on the Connect button to
establish a connection. Note: Your Userid and Password must be in all Lower case and
should not have any spaces In them.
Note: You MUST not be on the phone when you Are trying to connect or you will get an
error Message. |

After you establish a connection, you must now double click on Internet
Explorer icon so that you can begin to browse the Internet. Note: When you open Internet
Explorer a Connection wizard may launch, if so select The option at the bottom which is
"My Computer is already set up for the Internet" And click on OK. |

Now that you have established a connection and opened up Internet
Explorer, you will begin to open up Web Pages. Internet Explorer, by default, will open up
MSN.com, but this does not mean that you are getting charged for MSN. Internet Explorer is
just set to open up this page on start up. From here you can begin to surf the web. Note:
Internet Explorer may open up AOL.com or Other web pages depending on how it has Been set
up. |
